digital announcement system (IN) (DAS)

The Digital Announcement System(DAS) is a functional unit of intelligent networks( IN) that can be used to inject announcement services into the voice connection.

Digital Announcement Systems use announcement memories in which the announcements are digitally stored and called up as required. Announcement services can be used in a variety of ways, including weather news, traffic situations, sports scores, and much more.

If the DAS systems are designed exclusively for voice announcements, they are referred to as Voice Recorded Announcement Service (VARS).
