digital access and crossconnect system (DACS)

A DACS system(Digital Access and Crossconnect System) is a switch, comparable to a Time Slot Interchange switch( TSI).

The DACS system switches the data stream of the DS transmission interface (Digital Signal), namely the DS-0 channels into a DS-1 data stream. DACS was developed for DS-0 and DS-1 switching, but is also used for DS-1 and DS-3 switching. Thus, large DACS systems can also switch DS-0 channels into DS-3 data streams.

In principle, the DACS is comparable to a crossconnect, which is used for switching on remote networks.
