The Differential Global Navigation Satellite System (DGNSS) belongs to the differential satellite navigation systems, which are characterized by a higher positioning accuracy compared to the GPS system.
Like the Differential Global Positioning System( DGPS), the DGNSS system works with ground stations that provide the satellite data with correction signals and send these to the navigation devices or GPS modules. According to the procedure, an exact reference point is determined and the received navigation data is compared with the reference point. The correction signal is calculated from the existing difference and sent to the navigation devices via the ground transmitters.
The achievable accuracy of the difference method is a factor of 10 higher than the position accuracy ofGPS systems.
