dial-in node

A dial-up node is an exchange computer used as an access point for the use of a network or a service. Via this exchange computer, the user can dial up to an online service or a value-added service, to the Internet or to a corporate network. The connection to the dial-up point can be made via fixed networks such as POTS (Plain Old TelephoneService) or ISDN, but also via mobile networks.
