destination NAT (DNAT)

Destination Network Address Translation (DNAT) is a NAT procedure, Network Address Translation (NAT), which is executed for incoming IP data packets.

In the DNAT procedure, the NAT gateway translates the public destination address into a private address. This can also refer to the ports. It is a static translation using the NAT mapping table stored in the NAT gateway. Here, the NAT gateway always translates the original destination address into the same internal destination address.
