A departmental computer, Department Computer, refers to the internal level of the IT company structure and is assigned to the departmental level of a company.

A departmental computer is a computer that, in commercial use, supports the workstations of a company's own departments, such as accounting, warehousing, development or production.

Departmental computers are often classified as midrange computers, with performance between that of mainframes and workstation computers. Historically, terminal networks with the terminals connected at the department level were used in the past, which were subsequently replaced by workstation computers in client architecture.
