demand based switching (DBS)

Demand Based Switching (DBS) is a technique developed by Intel for microprocessorpower management

(PM). The DBS technique is based on a similar concept as Dynamic Voltage and Frequency Scaling (DVFS). With Demand Based Switching, a processor 's supply voltage and clock rate are reduced based on workload, which reduces the processor's power dissipation

and energy consumption. Processors equipped with DBS technology operate at reduced supply voltage and low clock rate until workload increases and computing power must be increased.
