delivery multimedia integration framework (MPEG-4) (DMIF)
The Delivery Multimedia Integration Framework (DMIF) is a framework specified in MPEG-4. The DMIF framework allows audiovisual operations to be encoded and distributed independently of the delivery technology.
The DMIF framework includes interactive network technologies, such as those of the Internet, ATM, and other networks. In addition, broadcast technologies via broadband cable networks, satellites or radio technology are also part of the framework, as are optical storage technologies with CDs, DVDs, Blu-Ray discs and other optical storage.
In MPEG-4, the Delivery Multimedia Integration Framework (DMIF) forms the interface between the application layer and the transport layer, which provides access to transport networks.
