Filter characteristics for the volume evaluation

The volume evaluation is performed with different filter curves. The difference between the individual weightings dB(A), dB(B) and dB(C ) lies only in the filter characteristics. While dB(A) uses 40 phon as reference volume, dB(B) works with a reference value of 70 phon and is thus designed for higher volumes. Just as with the other sound measurements, dB(B) weighting also uses filters upstream of the sound level meters that emulate the anatomical characteristics of the human auditory system and the hearing characteristics.
