datagram transport layer security (DTLS)

The Datagram Transport Layer Security Protocol (DTLS) is a widely used security protocol for securing network traffic in mesh networks.

The DTLS protocol can be considered as" TLS over Datagram Transport" because the TLS protocol cannot be used directly in datagram networks.

DTLS supports data protection when communicating with datagram protocols such as User Datagram Protocol( UDP) and prevents eavesdropping, tampering, or spoofing of client- server applications. The DTLS protocol is based on the TLS protocol, Transport Layer Security (TLS), and provides comparable security.
