Data visualization is the conversion of large amounts of data into forms that can be easily interpreted graphically. In data visualization, long columns of figures and comprehensive tables are mathematically processed, correlated, summed, differentiated and converted into information and presentation graphics: line charts, pie charts and bar charts from which trends, dependencies and relations emerge.

The visualized data are extremely descriptive and give an immediate impression of the interrelationships of several characteristic values. Large amounts of data, as provided by Big Data, can thus be visualized graphically and according to predefined dependencies. According to technical or social aspects, according to income and age structures, according to size and eating habits, according to political attitudes and school education, according to turnover and number of employees, and so on. The graphics and diagrams can be two-dimensional or even three-dimensional and thus combine several dependencies. They can be interactive and show effects as parameters change.
