data link control (SNA/802) (DLC)

Data Link Control(DLC) is a data control method for the secure and error-free transmission of data over physical links. The DLC procedure works on the link layer, which is responsible for reliable data transport in networks, among other things.

The tasks of the DLC data control procedure include error detection offrames transmitted with errors and flow control. Data Link Control can be used in point-to-point links and in multicast and is applied as a synchronous method, as Synchronous Data Link Control( SDLC) in the SNA architecture and as High Level Data Link Control ( HDLC) in Link Access Procedure( LAP) in X.25.

Each network card has a DLC address with which the node is identified in the network. This network card address is the 48-bithardware or MAC address.
