data encryption algorithm (DEA)

The Data Encryption Algorithm (DEA) is the algorithm used to encrypt data for the DES algorithm.

In DEA encryption, the message is divided into 64-bit blocks and each one is individually encrypted with a 64-bit key. The 64-bit key is composed of 56 freely selectable bits and 8 parity bits. Data blocks smaller than 64 bits are padded with fill bits. Each character is scrambled 16 times during encryption and, in addition, the encryption method is changed.

The encryption and decryption of the data blocks is done in the Electronic Code Book( ECB), and in the extended mode with key block chains( CBC). In this mode, the text blocks are linked by concatenation in such a way that they cannot be interchanged or changed.
