data compression protocol control protocol (DCPCP)

The Data Compression Protocol Control Protocol (DCPCP) is used to enable, disable and configure

the Data Compression Protocol (DCP). The DCPCP protocol has a normal and an optional operating mode. In the optional mode of operation, the options for enabling, disabling, and configuring the protocol are negotiated using the Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) and the Link Control Protocol (LCP). The first mode of operation uses a subset of the root functions negotiated in the second mode of operation, which simplify the enabling and disabling of the procedure by adding default values.
