data center bridging exchange (802.1Qaz) (DCBX)

The activities for Data Center Bridging(DCB) are about error-free Ethernet, Lossless Ethernet, which is used in data centers to handle datatraffic for data storage.

Several protocols are being standardized for this application. In addition to Data Center Bridging Exchange (DCBX), Priority Flow Control( PFC), Quantized Congestion Notification( QCN) and Enhanced Transmission Selection( ETS).

The Data Center Bridging Exchange (DCBX) was developed by Cisco, Nuova, and Intel and is specified by the IEEE802.1Qaz working group under Data Center Bridging (DCB). The DCBX protocol is a discovery protocol that acts between adjacent switches to determine configurations and their performance. The Link Layer Discovery Protocol ( LLDP) serves as the basic protocol for the DCBX protocol.
