data access object (DB) (DAO)

Database access objects are a programming interface with which programmers can access databases.

This API is used to capture the objects for the database. Inconnection with a database computer, this data can then be displayed and manipulated.

The Data Access Object ( DAO) shows itself to the programmer as a hierarchical library with all objects of the database access. ActiveX Data Object( ADO) from Microsoft is to replace the DAO technology.
