Customer Average Interruption Frequency Index (CAIFI) a characteristic value for the supply reliability
in power grids. The CAIFI value indicates the average consumer interruption frequency. The CAIFI index is an index for reliability analyses in power grids. It is calculated from the ratio of the absolute number of power interruptions and the number of power consumers who experienced at least one power outage during the period.
In addition to theCAIFI
index, there is also the index for the average interruption frequency, the System Average Interruption Frequency Index (SAIFI), and the index for the reliability of electricity plants, the Momentary Average Interruption Frequency Index (MAIFI).
