cosmic noise

Cosmic noise comes from outside the Earth's atmosphere and is similar to thermal noise. This contrasts with atmospheric noise, which is generated in the atmosphere by lightning and static discharges. Cosmic noise occurs at frequencies above 15 MHz and occurs when directional or parabolicantennas are pointed at the Milky Way or other areas in the cosmos.
