copy (CPY)

Copy (CPY) is a command for copying files. The Copy command can be used to copy entire files or partial files from a disk, from a folder or document to another disk and into another folder. The copied file remains unchanged on the original storage location.

The Copy command is used to create backup copies and backups and is present in every operating system. It can be activated from the keyboard, the menu bar or the right mouse button.

Besides copying files to another storage medium, there is also the temporary copy, which is stored in the temporary memory and deleted after closing the file. Another aspect of copying is the screenshot or snapshot with which a screen display is transferred to the temporary memory.
