Cooling cassettes are compact heat sinks used for passive cooling of electronic assemblies in racks. Since the packing density of assemblies is often very high, conventional cooling by natural convection is impaired. Active cooling with fans
also reaches its limits in many cases. The cooling cassettes designed for rack mounting are 19" wide and consist of many heat-conducting plates that absorb the heat generated in the rack and dissipate the heat loss to the outside via the side panel, which is part of the cooling cassette.
