continuous ARQ

Continuous ARQ is a variant of the transmission security according to Automatic Repeat Request (ARQ).

The Continuous ARQ procedure is a credit procedure, whereby the Data Communication Equipment (DCE) is granted a credit via the window size for a certain number of data blocks that it can send unacknowledged. This measure increases the data throughput compared to stop-and-wait ARQ with single block acknowledgement. Examples of Continuous ARQ are High Level Data Link Control (HDLC) according to X.25 and Synchronous Data Link Control (SDLC).
