The Consumer Internet of Things (CIoT) is a consumer-oriented variant of the Internet of Things( IoT). The CIoT is a consumer Internet ofThings and is directly related to consumer-oriented applications and devices, such as those used in smart homes.

A CIoT is an application-specific Internet of Things (IoT) for consumers, just as the Industrial Internet of Things( IIoT) is for industry. There is overlap and convergence in applications between the two. In the consumer-oriented CIoT, it is consumer electronics devices and for room monitoring, as well as alarm and surveillance systems, plus lighting technology and building management systems.
