Connection Point Identification (CPID) is a technology used in Automated Infrastructure Management
(AIM) for automatic recognition of the connector connection. The CPID technology is based on RFID and works with CPID chips that are embedded in each connector
ofthe patch cords
and in the receiver strips during production. The CPID chips contain various parameters and a uniquely assigned connector number. When a connector is plugged in, the CPID chip is automatically read and the connector connection is automatically read into the database. The unique CPID identifier allows the overall connection to be determined. If a plug is removed, this is immediately transmitted to the AIM system. This gives the network administrator an overview of the current cabling infrastructure at all times.
