connection point identification (AIM) (CPID)

Connection Point Identification (CPID) is a technique used in Automated Infrastructure Management(AIM) to automatically detect the connector connection.

CPID technology is based on RFID and works with CPID chips that are embedded in each connector of the patch cables and in the receiver strips during production.

The CPID chips contain various parameters and a uniquely assigned connector number. When a connector is plugged in, the CPID chip is automatically read out and the connector connection is automatically read into the database. The unique CPID identifier allows the overall connection to be determined. If a plug is removed, this is immediately transmitted to the AIM system. This gives the network administrator an overview of the current cabling infrastructure at all times.
