computer supported cooperative work (Extranet) (CSCW)

Computer Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW) is a generic term for workgroup computing with computer-supported communication of persons, teams and workgroups working cooperatively on the same project.

The CSCW method works like a web conference and supports distributed work on workstations that are distant in time and space. It is used, among other things, in many scientific, medical, sociological and other applications in which specialists who are spatially located in different places can jointly view and discuss results. For example, in telediagnostics, where specialists can review examination results and make a diagnosis together with their colleagues.

The communication of CSCW systems is often based on the ITU standardH.323. Some systems have proprietary extensions and offer no real control. They also have limited compatibility.
