computer integrated processing (CIP)

Computer Integrated Processing(CIP) is the integration of computer technology into process manufacturing.

Computer Integrated Processing differs from Computer Integrated Manufacturing( CIM) in that it intervenes in the logistical and technical functional areas, in contrast to CIM technology, which focuses on production engineering and manufacturing.

Complete Computer Integrated Processing includes as logistical functions production planning and control, including complete order processing with demand planning and material procurement, time management and capacity management. In contrast, the technical functions involve computer-aided techniques for product design, process control technology, process control and process development, quality planning and quality control.
