composite video signal (CVS)

The BAS signal is an analog video signal that contains the luminance information, the horizontal and vertical blanking signals, and the synchronization signals for the lines and fields. It is monochromatic and consists of the luminance signal and is the same as the FBAS signal except for the chrominance signal.

The BAS signal is the picture signal (B) recorded in television studios, to which blanking (A) has been added. It is also called Non Composite Video Signal (NCVS). The B signal and the blanking result in the BA signal, which in turn results in the BAS signal by adding the horizontal and vertical synchronization pulses (S).

The BAS signal is similar in structure in the various television processes, but the times for the frame and line lengths, the blanking times and the times for the synchronization pulses are different.

This signal is called Composite Video Signal (CVS) and is used for monochrome displays and for B/W televisions.
