common mail calls (X.400) (CMC)

Common Mail Calls (CMC) is an application programming interface( API) that enables MHS agents to communicate with Message Transfer Services( MTS) regardless of hardware platform, operatingsystem, email system, or message protocol.

Common Mail Calls is similar to Microsoft's Messaging Application Programming Interface( MAPI), Vendor Independent Messaging( VIM), and Open Collaborative Environment (OCE).
