common character signalling channel

The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) has provided signalling system No. 7 (SS7) for the central signalling channel (CCC).

This signalling system transmits information in the signalling channel between the switching computers of the digital local exchange and the long-distance exchange at a transmission rate of 64 kbit/s, irrespective of the user channels in the telephone network or ISDN network.
