code access security (.NET) (CAS)

Code Access Security(CAS) is the security concept of the . NET platform. The CAS concept is about providing applications with specific rights for their execution.

The CAS security concept is implemented by the Common Language Runtime( CLR), which evaluates the characteristics of the assemblies at runtime, compares them with the security settings of the system, and then enables or prevents the execution of certain operations. The assemblies are divided into security zones, where the security zones represent the rights with which certain applications are executed.

Part of Code Access Security (CAS) are the Policy Levels( PL), which contain the security settings for .NET applications. They determine which operations can be executed by which assemblies.
