Cobalt (Co) is a chemical element that has atomic number 27 in the periodic table of chemical elements.

Cobalt has ferromagnetic properties and is used in conjunction with other chemical elements such as manganese and nickel in rechargeable batteries, primarily lithium-ion batteries. Other applications are in the field of superconductors and magnets, and in combination with terbium and iron in magneto-optical storage devices.
