character large object (CLOB)

The term Character Large Object (CLOB) stands for large, non-structured text files. It is derived from the term Large Objects( LOB), which distinguishes between large binary files, the Binary Large Objects( BLOB), and text files, the Character Large Objects (CLOB). CLOB files can be large XML documents. CLOB files can be managed in databases as a data type.
