channel service unit (CSU)

The ChannelService Unit (CSU) is a terminal device of a digital network that connects a digital transmission link with a digital device. It forms the interface between the user and the network

.The CSU unit supports the signalling and test functions. With its functionality, it forms the termination of the digital telecommunications line with the data terminal equipment and serves as a buffer between the customer's terminal equipment and the wide area network. Among other things, the CSU unit performs filtering functions for the signals, ensures that there is no potential, provides level matching and frequency boosting, and prevents malfunctions of the Data Service Unit (DSU). A Channel Service Unit (CSU) can be combined with a Channel Data Unit (CDU) to form an Integrated Service Unit (ISU).
