Changeover is the administrative handover of moving mobile stations from base station to base station without a connection existing. If the handover takes place during an active mobile communication, it is referred to as handover.

Changeover can also refer to signaling information. In the event of a disturbed signaling link, the changeover is used to hand over to one or more alternative signaling links.
