celsius (C)
Celsius (C), named after the Swedish astronomer Anders Celsius (1701 to 1744), is a unit of temperature. The Celsius temperature scale is based on two temperatures: the freezing point of water at 0 °C and the boiling point at 100 °C, at an atmospheric pressure equal to that at sea level. Between these two temperatures, the temperature differences are divided into Celsius degrees on a linear scale. The Celsius scale continues linearly below the freezing point and above the boiling point.
The following relationships exist between the temperature indication in Celsius, Fahrenheit and Kelvin: 0 °C corresponds to a temperature of +32 °F or 273.15 Kelvin. The temperature difference of 1 °C corresponds to that of 1 Kelvin.
