cell broadcast center (SMS) (CBC)

The Cell Broadcast Center (CBC) is used to manage cell broadcast( CB) messages that are transmitted to mobile terminals in mobile networks.

The Cell Broadcast Center (CBC) receives the CB messages from the information provider. It can modify and delete the messages, define the regional area and radio cells in which the CB message is to be broadcast, assign serial numbers to them, and specify the duration and cycle of transmission. For broadcasting, the CBC center transmits the CB message to a suitable base station within the corresponding cellular network.

InGSM networks, the Cell Broadcast Center (CBC) is linked to the Base Station Controller( BSC), in UMTS networks to the Radio Network Controller( RNC), in LTE networks to the Mobility Management Entity( MME) and in 5th generation mobile networks to the Access and Mobility Management Function ( AMF).
