back to the days of typewriters. In a cursor representation, when a carriage return is triggered, the cursor is returned to the beginning of the line. If the carriage return (CR) is immediately followed by a line feed
(LF), the cursor is moved down to the next line and then to the beginning of the line. The CR control character occupies the position 0D(H) resp. 013 (dec.) in the ASCII character set.
