carbon ribbon
A carbon ribbon is an ink ribbon for printers. Carbon ribbons are characterized by a high-contour representation of the printed characters.
Carbon ribbons are made up on spools or in cartridges and, depending on their structure, are intended for one-time use only or for more frequent use.
Characters are created by printing on the carbon ribbon, whose inked layer is directed towards the medium and transfers the color of the carbon ribbon to the paper. Carbon ribbons are used in impact printers such as the dot matrix printer or the daisy wheel printer.
