car to x (C2X)
Car-to-X communication (C2X) is the generic term for various communication technologies in automotive technology and traffic engineering and stands for connected cars or connected driving. C2X communication is realized with cooperative intelligent transport systems, Cooperative Intelligent Transport System( C-ITS).
Car-to-car communication( C2C) is one of the communication technologies, and car-to- infrastructure( C2I) is another. Car-to-Everything (C2X) is about transmitting the vehicle's movement data to third parties. Information can be transmitted directly between vehicles via IEEE 802.11p as in C2C communication, but it can also be transmitted via the infrastructural components set up at the roadside, such as the Roadside Units( RSU), the Intelligent Roadside Stations( IRS) or via the existing mobile networks.
Car-to-X is about adapting and improving safety and efficiency to the increasing mobility and density of road traffic. It is about using CAM messages to alert other road users to impairments in road traffic, to black ice or aquaplaning, to traffic accidents and road works, to high traffic density and other impairments.
