cable laying guidelines
When installing data cables, whether metallic cable or fiber opticcable, they are subjected to mechanical and thermal stress. When overloaded by tensile, compressive and bending forces or by temperature, the cable can be irreversibly damaged and its electrical and high- frequency transmission properties deteriorate. The stress on a copper data cable affects the attenuation, characteristic impedance and near-end crosstalk. For these reasons, installation conditions have been specified.
In contrast to storage or subsequent operation, for which other load values apply, it is essential to observe the installation specifications when laying the cable.
The loads due to tension, bending or are because of also in the cabling standards ISO/IEC11801 and EN 50173.
