broadcast and communications technologies (home cabling) (BCT)

Three services are supportedinhome cabling according to EN 50173-4 and ISO/IEC15018: Information and Communications Technologies( ICT) for telephone and data transmission, Commands, Controls, and Communications in Buildings( CCCB) is for building automation, and a broadcast service for radio and television called Broadcast and Communications Technologies (BCT).

The broadcast service is the broadest of these three services, and can be transmitted over coaxial cable with a bandwidth of 3 GHz over 100 m, or over symmetrical cable with 1 GHz over 50 m. The symmetrical cables are laid in star topology, they must comply with category 7 and thus correspond to link class F.

The radio and television signals are fed in via the house transfer point(HÜP) and distributed to the home network via the residential distributor(WV). The connectors used are coaxial connectors such as the F connector or the Tera connector for balanced cables.
