broadband topology

Broadband networks are local networks that are generally structured in tree topology. The base of a broadband system is the head-end station. From there, a branched, hierarchically organized cable system can be set up, consisting of one or more maintrunks, feeders and drop lines.

The end points(outlets) of the branches form the connection points for the user devices. In addition to systematically structured topologies such as tree topology or star topology, any irregular structures are conceivable.

Since several logically independent networks can be implemented in separate channels on a physical broadband system, the parallel existence of different access methods on the same transmission medium is possible.
