bring your own apps (ByoA)

Bring your own Apps (ByoA) is a trend where employees use apps and cloud services for their work in companies. This trend is related to the consumerization of mobile devices and the related IT strategy Bring your own Device( ByoD).

This concept involves integrating modern private mobile devices - laptops, smartphones and tablet PCs - into the corporate network. Mobile Device Management( MDM) is used to manage the ByoD devices, their access rights and, above all, their apps in Enterprise Mobility Management( EMM). This is particularly important because privately installed apps typically do not support enterprise applications and are often even snooping apps that tap into company, personal and location-related data. To avoid such apps, companies have devised corporate mobility policies that prohibit the installation of certain apps while allowing others. The use of corporate networks, the Internet and services are also defined in Acceptable Use Policies( AUP).

Nevertheless, ByoA makes sense in that specific apps approved by the company can reduce training time and save on licenses through simpler apps.
