The node switching center (KVSt) is part of the long-distance network and forms the first switching hierarchy level above the local switching center(OVSt). The node exchange is connected to the local exchanges. It is connected to other node exchanges and meshed with the main exch anges(HVSt) and with the central exchanges(ZVSt).
