bit error frequency rate

The bit error frequency is equivalent to the bit error rate( BER) and expresses how many bits of a total transmitted number of bits were transmitted incorrectly.

The bit error frequency is the ratio of the "bits received with errors" to the "total bits transmitted". The bit error frequency is a dimensionless number, which is provided with a negative quotient, example: '4*10°-6'. This means that in the transmission of 1 million bits, four were wrong. The smaller the number, the better the bit error rate.

The bit error rate is a quality criterion for digital transmissions and is described in ITU Recommendation G.821.
