binary hexadecimal (binhex)

Binary hexadecimal (BinHex) is a method of converting binary files to ASCII. This conversion is used, for example, with MacIntosh files so that they can be transmitted over networks or attached to e-mails

. BinHex converts 8-bit characters into ASCII characters for texts. On the receiving side, the 7-bit characters must be converted back. Some e-mail clients can perform BinHex encoding and decoding.
