Bidirectional Line Switch Ring (BLSR) is a Sonet ring architecture that uses two optical fibers between nodes: The main fiber, the Working Fiber, and a backup fiber, the Protection Fiber. If the main fiber is damaged, traffic is automatically routed to the backup fiber.
