bevel
The English term bevel stands for slant in German.
In graphic design, bevel refers to an effect in which the outer edges of a graphic, a model or a text are beveled and emphasized by means of highlights and shadowing.
The representation thus creates the impression of three-dimensionality. In bevel models, adjacent surfaces are not perpendicular to each other. Surfaces arranged at right angles are connected by inserted bevels.
Bevel also refers to the rounded or beveled area at the outermost edge of a wafer.
