Increasing electromobility through electric vehicles and bicycles is leading to ever more compact battery shapes. As a result, more and more energy is being stored in an increasingly confined space.

During energy storage, a chemical reaction takes place inside the battery that must not be allowed to get out of control, otherwise a sudden release of all the energy can occur. Such a release could happen in the event of a short circuit as a result of an accident or incorrect handling.

For this purpose, the Battery Safety Organization (BATSO) has developed criteria, specified in the BATSO standard, to ensure safe use. It is a test standard that is carried out by test facilities and confirmed by a test seal.
