battery electric vehicle (automotive) (BEV)
Battery electricvehicles(BEVs) are purely electric vehicles that use only the electrical energy stored in traction batteries for their electric motor.
Generally, batteries of electric vehicles are charged via charging stations or wall charging stations and the on- board charger( OBC) located in the electric vehicle. There are also concepts in which energy recovery takes place by converting braking energy into electrical energy and feeding it into the batteries. In this context, this is referred to as recuperation. Purely electric vehicles emit no pollutants while driving and have no harmful carbon monoxide or carbon dioxide emissions.
In addition to these electric vehicles, there are the hybrid electric vehicles, Hybrid Electric Vehicle( HEV), Plug-In Electric Vehicles( PEV), Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicles( PHEV) and Range-Extended Electric Vehicles( REEV). The hybrid electric vehicles combine two drive units: an electric motor and an internal combustion engine.
